Aizawl: The Mizoram government has launched new measures to save fuel and reduce public spending in response to the ongoing crisis in West Asia. These changes follow a nationwide appeal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conserve energy and manage state resources with greater care.

A primary feature of the plan is the declaration of a weekly no official vehicle day. In addition, the state is shifting to staggered office hours and remote work arrangements to minimize travel. Under the new policy, 20 percent of government staff will work from home, and departments must adjust their operations to support lower fuel usage.

Authorities expect these steps to lower government costs and decrease the reliance on official vehicles. Beyond addressing immediate economic pressures, officials stated that the initiative is intended to encourage more sustainable work practices across all state departments.
