Aizawl: Mizoram Home Minister K Sapdanga wants the state's new criminal laws to stick. He told a room full of officials in Aizawl that success hinges on how well police understand the rules. The laws aim to fix the justice system. They target tech-based crimes and organized rackets.
The minister spoke at a training session hosted by the state government, the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority, and the Judicial Academy, Assam. He pushed for better tech use during investigations. Officials need to grasp the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
Sapdanga said the reforms prioritize citizens. "The rise of organised crime and cyber-enabled offences demands a criminal justice system that is better equipped, technology-driven and capable of delivering timely justice," Sapdanga said. He urged officers to use the training to sharpen their skills and coordination.
The goal is a faster system. Authorities must protect rights while catching crooks. The minister remains clear that law enforcement determines the outcome.
