Aizawl: Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii is calling for the establishment of a dedicated neurosurgery unit to improve medical care within the state. She noted that many patients currently face the burden of traveling outside Mizoram to secure expensive neurosurgical treatments due to the lack of local specialized facilities.

The minister confirmed that a formal proposal for the unit is complete, though the government requires additional infrastructure and equipment to make the facility operational. She made these remarks during a ceremony at Zoram Medical College and Hospital where Indian Oil Corporation Limited handed over medical supplies worth Rs 62.38 lakh.

This corporate social responsibility initiative provided the hospital with a C-Arm machine, a diathermy machine, and an Advanced Life Support Ambulance. Lalrinpuii stated, "The newly donated equipment would enhance emergency medical response, strengthen surgical services and help save lives." She also encouraged the corporation to maintain its support as the state works to expand its specialized healthcare services.
