Aizawl: Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii has called for the urgent development of neurosurgery services within the state. Speaking at Zoram Medical College and Hospital, she noted that the current lack of a dedicated unit forces many families to travel outside the state for expensive medical care.

The Minister confirmed that a proposal to establish a specialized neurosurgery unit is already in development, though the project will require additional infrastructure and medical equipment to function. She encouraged the Indian Oil Corporation Limited to continue its partnership with the state to expand such healthcare offerings.

The appeal followed a donation from the corporation under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The company provided an Advanced Life Support Ambulance along with surgical equipment, including a C-Arm machine and a diathermy machine, worth over Rs 62.38 lakh. Lalrinpuii praised the donation for its potential impact on local medical services, stating, "The equipment would help strengthen emergency response capabilities, improve surgical care, and ultimately save lives."
