Aizawl: Security forces and state authorities conducted a series of anti-narcotics operations across Mizoram on Tuesday, leading to the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs and the arrest of six individuals. The Excise and Narcotics Department worked alongside the Assam Rifles to execute the raids.

The most significant recovery occurred late Tuesday in the Khatla locality of Aizawl, where officials seized 350 grams of heroin hidden in 30 soap cases. Authorities arrested three people at the scene, including a Myanmar national identified as 33-year-old Vanlallianzauva, alongside Aizawl residents K.C. Lalrintluanga and Lalhmangaihzuali. A vehicle suspected of being used for drug transport was also confiscated.

Earlier that day, another operation near Temple Square in Tuikual South resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Gin Khan Sang, a resident of Manipur, who was found in possession of 241 grams of heroin. Meanwhile, near the Myanmar border in Tlangsam village, a joint team intercepted nearly 1,000 grams of methamphetamine tablets. Officials confirmed the seizure of 9,786 tablets and apprehended two local residents, Lalramnghaka and Zosangzuala.

All six suspects remain in custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Officials stated that the group "were produced before the court on Wednesday for further legal proceedings."
