Aizawl: Mizoram's student body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), wants Governor Vijay Kumar Singh to fix a major bottleneck in state education. Seven engineering seats, reserved for Mizoram within the Central pool quota, remain empty. These spots include five in civil engineering and two in electrical and electronics engineering at Matrusri Engineering College in Hyderabad. The vacant slots leave local students in a tight spot.

MZP president Dr. C. Lalremruata led a delegation to meet the Governor at Lok Bhavan last Thursday. They have already pinged Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi about the mess. Singh promised to raise the issue with the Union Minister immediately. He told the group not to worry. "I will take up the matter with the Union Education Minister at the earliest," Singh said.

The meeting also covered plans for National Integration Tours for Mizo students. The Governor requested a written list of specific destinations to get the ball rolling. Beyond academics, the two sides mapped out a plan for drug awareness and prevention campaigns. These will target schools across the state. Singh wants the message to start early. He plans to loop in the Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau to help push the anti-drug effort forward.
