Gangtok: Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh arrived in Mangan district on November 2 to audit Central government schemes. He demanded tighter coordination between state departments to guarantee that welfare aid actually hits the people who need it most. This review meeting fell under the Poorvottar SETU initiative. Singh insisted that government work must yield real results for farmers and those tied to the land.
The minister confirmed Soreng district will become an organic fisheries cluster. He also kicked off the North Dairy Milk Union in Mangan as part of White Revolution-II. The Siri Cattle Conservation Programme now protects local Siri cattle, and Singh broke ground on a Siri Bull Mother Farm at Chuchachen in Pakyong district. He digitally released the standard operating procedure for organic fish farming in the state.
Twelve projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana went live across Pakyong, Gyalshing, Soreng, and Mangan. Three farmers picked up Kisan Credit Cards during the event. Five people received checks through the Mukhya Mantri Matsya Uthpadhan Yojana. Singh walked through exhibition stalls showcasing fish, dairy goods, and local vegetables.
Officials briefed the minister on regional health, education, road work, and women and child development. They also covered the Vibrant Village Programme. Local farmers joined the meeting to air their grievances. Singh told the group that government programmes must deliver measurable benefits, particularly for farmers and people dependent on agriculture and allied sectors.
