Shillong: I Mei Tea, a brand based in Shillong, signed a memorandum of understanding with a Dutch partner to scout international markets. The companies inked the deal on October 22 during the Reverse Buyers Sellers Meet 2.0. This agreement starts formal talks about how to sell Meghalaya tea to the world.

Pinki Maring founded the company. She is a certified tea taster and sommelier. Her work highlights Meghalaya tea heritage while linking local growers to bigger markets. The brand’s Meghalayan Collection features leaves gathered directly from state farmers. They also offer a Global Collection of teas from various regions.

The partnership remains in early stages. Future talks will define the specific scope of the collaboration. The brand credited the Meghalaya government, the Directorate of Food Processing, and the District Commerce and Industries Centre for their help. These agencies facilitated the brand’s participation in the event. According to the brand, the initiative aims to "improve the visibility of locally produced tea and explore opportunities to connect farmers with new buyers."
