They focused on his core tenets of peace, truth, and non-violence. The group pledged to bring these values into their daily public work.
Governor CH Vijayashankar hosted a separate event at Lok Bhavan. He observed the 157th birth anniversary of Gandhi and the 122nd anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The day also coincided with the International Day of Non-Violence.
The Governor praised the leaders. He highlighted the need for compassion and selfless service in modern life. He noted, "Gandhi’s message of peace, tolerance, dialogue, and coexistence is particularly vital at a time when the world faces growing conflict, inequality, and environmental challenges."
Vijayashankar closed the event by calling on citizens to mirror the dedication and humility shown by both men. He urged the public to apply those historic lessons to the present day.
