Meghalaya Invests Over Rs 450 Crore to Modernize State Schools

Shillong: The Meghalaya government has reached a major milestone in its efforts to revitalize the state education system. Through its flagship Mission Education initiative, the administration has successfully upgraded 2,230 schools across several phases.

This massive infrastructure project represents a total investment of Rs. 457.41 crore. The initiative aims to shift the focus from basic building repairs to creating modern, student-friendly environments. Officials confirmed the program is designed to provide pupils with improved classrooms and essential campus amenities.

The state also collaborated with the Asian Development Bank to renovate an additional 182 schools as part of the Supporting Human Capital Development in Meghalaya Project. According to the state government, the initiative reflects a broad vision of "ensuring quality education and laying a strong foundation for brighter futures for children in Meghalaya."
