Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet gave the green light to regularize 26 ad hoc employees. These workers held sanctioned posts before the December 31 deadline. It is a win for the staff. This marks the fifth batch of regularizations processed by the state government under Supreme Court guidelines.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma confirmed the move. He noted that nearly 4,000 employees have gained permanent status through similar efforts over the past few years. "The latest approval extends the benefit to 26 additional employees who had been left out of the process earlier," Sangma said. Officials intend to pull all remaining eligible workers into the fold.
The government did not identify the specific departments or job titles tied to these 26 employees. There is no set timeline for finalizing the paperwork. For now, the administration continues to chip away at the list of staff waiting for permanent standing.
