Shillong: The Meghalaya BJP is rolling out a month-long service drive to honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan kicks off September 17 and runs through October 17. It marks his quarter-century of public service, starting with his 2001 appointment as Gujarat Chief Minister. The party wants action, not just talk.
Rikman G Momin, the state president, outlined the goals. “The best way for us to commemorate this milestone is not simply through celebration, but by serving society and making a positive difference in the lives of the people around us,” Momin said. Workers will light candles for blessings at 6 pm on the opening day.
Events fill the calendar. Students compete in a district-level drawing contest on September 26 to paint their vision for India. The party will also honor Anganwadi and ASHA workers for their grassroots health and nutrition efforts. Blood donation clinics and health camps are set for various spots statewide.
Cleanliness drives and tree planting events round out the push. Momin framed the effort as a way to bring national service to the doorstep of every citizen. He expects students, women, and party members to join in. The message is clear: “Seva is our resolve, service to the nation is our commitment.”
