Medical Leaders Mark National Doctor’s Day in Meghalaya

Shillong: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya joined forces with PA Sangma International Medical College and IA Ayurvedic Medical College to mark National Doctor’s Day 2026. The event centered on the theme of healing the healers. It drew top medical staff, professors, and university leadership to Ri-Bhoi.

Organizers handed out awards to senior doctors for their work in education and patient care. They also celebrated the founding doctors who built the PA Sangma medical facility. Officials called for a focus on professional ethics and humanity in medicine. Keynote speaker Padma Shri Dr. Sarbeswar Sahariah noted that medical expertise alone is not enough for true success. He stated, "Upholding the trust of masses is the true measure of medical excellence."

The university pledged to grow its regional healthcare infrastructure and add new super-speciality facilities. During the ceremony, the institution distributed Premium Health Cards to local media members. These cards offer discounts on treatments and diagnostics at the PA Sangma hospital. The day ended with a public pledge to maintain high standards of patient service.
