Ambulance Destroyed by Fire in Meghalaya

Shillong: A medical transport vehicle went up in flames on October 14. The ambulance, assigned to the Aradonga Primary Health Centre, caught fire while traveling through Sigunbari at 3:15 pm. The driver managed to jump clear of the wreckage before the fire spread. He escaped the incident without a scratch.

The ambulance, identified by registration number NL-07T-1019, was en route to Riangdo to support a medical camp when the blaze started. Firefighters from the Riangdo Fire and Emergency Services arrived on the scene shortly after the call came into the Athiabari Outpost to secure the site. The ambulance sustained extensive damage.

While investigators have not pinned down an official cause, the operator has his own theory. The driver suspected that a "short circuit in the vehicle’s wiring may have triggered the fire." Officials continue to look into the matter.
