Guwahati: The Gauhati Press Club is hitting the streets. Members plan to rally this Saturday, October 17, at 10 am to denounce the mistreatment of reporters in New Delhi. The protest follows reports of police assaulting journalists who were covering demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Video footage allegedly shows officers targeting media workers even after they displayed their official press identification. The club claims authorities specifically singled out digital media personnel during the chaos. Organizers want better protections for the press.

The group demands respect for professional rights and the safety of all media staff. In a formal statement, the organization urged its members to stand together, noting: "The Gauhati Press Club has called on journalists and other media personnel to participate in the rally to register their protest against the alleged incident in the national capital."
