Shillong: The Guwahati Sports Association, working alongside Assam's District Sports Associations, launches the 71st Lokapriya Bordoloi Trophy on October 27. This massive event spans three distinct phases across 28 districts. Organizers expect 280 clubs and roughly 8,400 players to participate in 605 total matches.
The first phase runs from October 27 to November 5, 2026. Eight teams in each district will play 15 matches to determine the winner. Each district champion collects Rs 75,000 in prize money.
Competition moves to the cluster round from November 11 to 15. Six clusters will host six teams apiece, playing five matches each. Cluster champions win Rs 1,00,000, while runners-up take home Rs 75,000. These teams compete for more than just prestige: the tournament serves as a "platform for footballers from across Assam to showcase their talent."
The final round begins November 20 at Judges’ Field in Guwahati and concludes November 29. Sixteen teams total will vie for the title, including 12 district qualifiers and four invited squads. The final champion earns Rs 10,00,000. Runners-up grab Rs 5,00,000, and semi-finalists walk away with Rs 2,50,000 each.
