Imphal: Manipur officials reopened all national highways to public traffic on Saturday. The government also restarted the Imphal-Dimapur bus service to fix broken supply lines. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen broke the news at the Kangpokpi district headquarters. They met with local leaders to discuss ending the ongoing regional conflict.
Khemchand called for unity among all groups. "There is a solution to every crisis," he said. He urged residents to put the violence behind them. Kipgen labeled the highway reopening a historic move. He noted that National Highway-2 serves as a vital lifeline for the state. Both officials requested support from community leaders and civil society groups to keep the peace.
The administration pushed several infrastructure upgrades during the trip. Khemchand added a dialysis unit and a blood storage center to the Kangpokpi District Hospital. The hospital will grow into a 100-bed facility with its own CT scan machine. The state also planned new health centers for Motbung and T. Waichong plus an upgrade for the Saikul Community Health Centre. Workers will build a city convention hall, a computer testing center, and flood-control walls along local rivers.
The Chief Minister closed the visit by handing out government aid. He distributed benefits for PM-JAY, TB Mukt Bharat, Mission Vatsalya, PM-Kisan, PM Surya Ghar, and PM-KUSUM programs. He also provided direct support to dialysis patients and people displaced by the fighting.
