Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh announced on Thursday that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of six Naga civilians. Speaking during a visit to Makhan Naga Village in Kangpokpi district, the Chief Minister confirmed that security forces are currently conducting search and combing operations to locate the remaining hostages. He emphasized that the government is treating the situation with urgency and is working to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the crime.

The Chief Minister visited a relief camp established at the Makhen Baptist Church, which is currently providing shelter to approximately 35 internally displaced persons. Among the residents are women and children from Konsakhul Village who were previously held captive by armed miscreants before their release. During his visit, Singh distributed essential relief supplies, including rice, pulses, potatoes, oil, and other food staples.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, several MLAs, and senior administrative officials, Singh inspected local facilities to assess the capacity for housing additional displaced residents. He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi to supply necessary items such as mattresses and mosquito nets for the camp. Village leaders reported that numerous families have abandoned their homes across the district due to widespread fear. In response, the Chief Minister assured the community that the government shares their concerns and remains committed to resolving the hostage crisis.
