Imphal: A delegation from the Liangmai Naga Council met with Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at the Secretariat on Sunday to discuss welfare and development for their community. The group, led by President Timothy Wijunamai, Speaker Kawidinlungbou, Chairman Lungjinbuibou, and activist Lungphakbou Newmai, presented specific concerns regarding local infrastructure.

A primary focus of the discussion was a formal proposal for the construction of an 8-km road. Representatives argued this project would serve as a vital link to improve accessibility and connectivity for residents. The meeting follows a period of heightened tension for the community after the abduction and murder of six Liangmai members, an act blamed on suspected Kuki militants.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the requests and pledged to review the road proposal. He stated, "The Government has taken note of the proposal and will examine it with due diligence and seriousness to assess its feasibility for implementation." Singh reiterated that his administration is dedicated to inclusive progress, promising to ensure that development benefits reach every community across the state.
