Manipur Police Arrest Seven in Major Narcotics and Liquor Sweep

Imphal: Manipur Police arrested seven individuals during a series of enforcement operations across the state's valley districts over the last 36 hours. The seizures included cocaine, suspected heroin, and large quantities of illicit liquor.

In Imphal West, officers apprehended 25-year-old Sukham Rozar near RIMS Road with 4.6 grams of cocaine. A second arrest in the same district involved 29-year-old Mutum Giriraj, who was found with 18.6 grams of the substance. Officials stated that this marks the first instance of cocaine-related arrests in the state.

Authorities conducted a second operation in the Bishnupur district, where police intercepted a Tata Gold Sumo at Tronglaobi Makha Leikai. Inside the vehicle, officers recovered 26 soap cases suspected to contain heroin. They took two individuals into custody: 22-year-old Bicky Munda and a juvenile from Ukhrul district.

A third operation in Imphal East resulted in the detention of three people at Khabam Lamkhai. Police stopped a Mahindra Bolero carrying 215 litres of DIC liquor. The driver, Moirangthem Abinash Singh, along with passengers Wahengbam Ichanmacha and Thangjam Sumati Devi, were detained. Police have handed the detainees and the seized evidence over to the Excise Department for further legal proceedings.
