Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh announced plans to launch large-scale combing operations across vulnerable areas of the state. To support these efforts, the government is deploying three Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) units from the CRPF to assist existing state and central security forces.

One CoBRA unit is already in the state, where personnel are currently undergoing 45 days of specialized training to adapt to the local environment. Two additional units are expected to arrive within the next few days. These elite battalions specialize in guerrilla warfare and jungle combat, providing a significant boost to local security operations.

While the Chief Minister noted that security forces are currently limited, he expressed confidence that these reinforcements will improve the law and order situation. He emphasized that the success of these operations depends heavily on the support of local residents in both the hills and the valley.

The Chief Minister urged citizens to work with the administration to prevent further violence. He noted that even with an increased security presence, peace remains dependent on community support. "Even if more security forces are deployed, they cannot do much without public cooperation," he stated.
