Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) reported an assault on Teikhang and Lenglong villages in Noney district Wednesday afternoon. Armed groups allegedly burned homes and destroyed property. The apex tribal body identified Tangkhul-led factions of the NSCN (IM) and ZUF-K as the perpetrators. The violence started around 2 pm. No independent verification of these claims exists.

Kaybie Chongloi, the Information and Publicity Secretary for KIM, labeled the event a catastrophic escalation of ethnic tensions. The organization argues these attacks are a campaign to displace the Kuki-Zo population. They claim these groups want to force demographic shifts to push an agenda of Greater Nagalim.

KIM lashed out at the state government. They cite widespread security failures. The group demands the Centre launch a counter-terrorism offensive against the suspected factions. Their statement was clear: "The continued, systemic failure of the government to shield our frontier villages from heavily armed terrorist operations has crossed the line from institutional ineptitude into a grave internal security crisis."

The group insists the attack justifies their demand for a separate Union Territory with Legislature. They call this separation an existential imperative for the community. The state government, security agencies, and the accused factions have not responded to the allegations.
