Kohima: The Kohima Police recently returned 33 lost and stolen mobile phones to their owners as part of an ongoing community policing initiative. These devices, which have a combined market value of approximately Rs. 5.86 lakh, were recovered through sustained investigative efforts over the last six weeks.
According to the police public relations officer, the handover process took place across two local stations. Officials returned 17 phones worth Rs. 3 lakh at the South Police Station, while another 12 devices valued at Rs. 2.14 lakh were returned at the North Police Station on June 1. These efforts followed an earlier recovery operation where police traced and reunited owners with four additional phones worth Rs. 72,500.
Local authorities stated that these actions reflect a commitment to protecting public property and building trust within the community. The successful recovery operation highlights the department focus on addressing property loss for local residents.
