Kohima: Minister for PHED and Cooperation Jacob Zhimomi officially upgraded the PM SHRI Government Middle School in Pihekhu to a Government High School on June 5. The unveiling took place in the Aghunaqa Area of Niuland, marking a new phase for local educational infrastructure.

During the event, Zhimomi explained that the national PM SHRI initiative aims to transform India into a global education hub. He called on public leaders and department officials to take full advantage of this growth. Addressing the role of parents, he stated, "the greatest gift to children was imparting real education," and encouraged local leaders to enroll their children in government institutions, noting that they employ the most qualified educators.

The minister also urged School Management Committees to prioritize the stability of rural staff. He requested that officials stop issuing No Objection Certificates for teachers seeking transfers to urban areas, emphasizing the need to keep experienced educators in village schools.

Senior SDEO Kitoshi Z. Swu expressed gratitude for the upgrade, describing it as a major advancement for the Aghunaqa Area. She also encouraged the faculty to remain dedicated to student guidance. The program included a performance by the school choir, with Hukato Zhimomi chairing the proceedings and Ghoito Awomi delivering the welcome address.
