Aizawl: Health and Family Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii recently presided over a ceremony at Zoram Medical College and Hospital in Aizawl to receive a major donation from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The corporation provided an Advanced Life Support ambulance along with specialized medical equipment totaling more than 62 lakh rupees under its corporate social responsibility program.

The donation includes a C-Arm machine and a diathermy machine designed to improve surgical outcomes and emergency care. The new C-Arm unit will assist medical teams across departments such as orthopaedics, urology, and trauma care, while the diathermy equipment aims to increase surgical safety. The ambulance is expected to provide essential care during transit for critically ill patients.

Lalrinpuii praised the initiative and highlighted the state's plan to establish a dedicated neurosurgery unit to reduce the need for patients to travel outside Mizoram for specialized care. She invited IOCL to continue its partnership to help realize this goal. Malati Malakar, the Chief Manager of HR-CSR for IOCL, stated that the donation reflects a broader commitment to the region, noting that "the corporation consistently contributes beyond the mandated two percent of profits under CSR guidelines."

The event concluded with a formal address by Professor Zoramthanga Zadeng, Director of ZMC and Hospital, who thanked the company for the significant investment in local medical infrastructure. Hospital staff and company officials attended the ceremony to mark the upgrade in local healthcare capabilities.
