Guwahati: Artificial flooding has paralyzed 20 villages within the Rupohihat Revenue Circle. Residents blame the deluge on local encroachment. People built large RCC structures and shops directly over natural water channels and culverts. They dumped soil to level ground for these projects, effectively sealing off vital drainage pathways.
Water has nowhere to go. It now pools in homes, across public roads, and over critical agricultural land. Daily life has ground to a halt. One massive construction site sits a mere 500 metres from the Rupohihat Revenue Circle Office. Residents remain baffled by the lack of government oversight.
Locals want answers. They have demanded an immediate inquiry into these illegal works and the clearing of blocked routes. They believe the proximity to official buildings makes the silence suspicious. One resident noted: "Questions are now being raised over how such construction activities could allegedly continue just 500 metres from the Rupohihat Revenue Circle Office without attracting administrative attention."
Affected families now face severe hardship throughout the current rainy season. They expect the administration to stop the unauthorized building spree before the damage spreads further.
