IIM Shillong Welcomes New Doctoral and Executive Cohorts

Shillong: IIM Shillong launched its newest academic cohorts on May 26, marking the start of the 8th Doctoral Programme for Working Professionals and the 7th Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives. The ceremony featured IIM Calcutta Director Prof. Alok Kumar Rai as the chief guest, joined by industry leaders Srikanth Srinivasan from NASSCOM and Dheeraj Gaur of Arete Capital Service Pvt. Ltd.

Addressing the new students, Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy, Director (I/C) of IIM Shillong, emphasized the institution’s dedication to ethical leadership and high academic standards. She urged the incoming professionals to embrace continuous learning to stay ahead in a rapidly changing global business landscape.

The guest speakers shared insights on the future of management education and professional growth. Prof. Rai highlighted the need for research-driven business education, while Srinivasan emphasized that modern leadership requires fostering innovation rather than relying on traditional authority. Gaur encouraged the participants to maintain a solution-oriented mindset throughout their careers.

The new intake consists of 20 doctoral candidates and 87 executive students representing diverse industries such as IT, consulting, manufacturing, and automotive sectors. The academic session officially commenced after Prof. Mousumi Bhattacharya and Prof. Sitanshu Sekhar Das administered the oath to the cohorts.
