IIM Shillong to Host Anti-Drug Conclave and Youth Policy Summit

Shillong: The Department of Youth Affairs and MY Bharat are partnering to host a series of high-level meetings at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. These events aim to foster a socially responsible youth culture in line with the Union Government's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

The Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Conclave begins on May 28 to tackle substance abuse in the Northeast. Officials note that the region faces specific geo-strategic vulnerabilities regarding drug trafficking, prompting a focus on mobilizing youth as ambassadors for a drug-free nation. Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse will speak at the event, which includes sessions on prevention, rehabilitation, and a concluding pledge ceremony.

Following the conclave, a two-day Chintan Shivir takes place from May 29 to 30. This summit provides a space for academics, civil society members, and senior officials to align policies and strengthen institutional collaboration. The program features leadership workshops led by IIM Shillong faculty and strategic planning sessions regarding digital youth engagement via the MY Bharat portal.

Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya is scheduled to attend the May 29 inaugural session alongside Raksha Nikhil Khadse and Secretary of Youth Affairs Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil.
