Aizawl: Two doctors from the United States have shipped 3,875 cancer screening kits to the Mizoram State Cancer Institute in Zemabawk, Aizawl. Dr. Dahiya and Dr. Chauhan provided the supplies free of charge under an initiative led by Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh.
The donation includes 975 Alpha-Fetoprotein kits, 950 Carcinoembryonic Antigen kits, 975 Prostate Specific Antigen kits, and 975 Fecal Occult Blood kits. Staff will use these tools to ramp up detection of cancer cases throughout the state.
Governor Singh pointed to the state's high cancer rates and death tolls as a primary concern. He expects the supplies to bolster current health programs. "I hoped the donated kits would be put to effective use for the benefit of patients," Singh said. He remains committed to improving local healthcare access.
