Human Rights Commission Probes Deadly Assam Factory Explosion

Guwahati: The National Human Rights Commission stepped in after a metal processing factory exploded in Assam's Cachar district. Four workers died on July 26 when molten metal spilled onto the floor. Two other staff members remain in critical condition. Over 100 people were working when the blast rocked the facility.

The commission ordered the Assam Chief Secretary and the Cachar Superintendent of Police to file a report. They have two weeks to explain what happened. The agency wants to know about medical care for the injured and money given to the victims' families. The commission noted, "The incident would indicate a serious issue involving possible violations of human rights and workplace safety standards."

Locals are angry. Families claim this factory has a history of dangerous accidents. Safety rules were clearly ignored. The investigation aims to fix accountability for the tragedy and expose the facility's failure to protect its employees.
