HSPDP Maintains RDA Ties Despite Election Split

Shillong: The Hill State People's Democratic Party is staying in the Regional Democratic Alliance. This remains true despite the party choosing not to support the United Democratic Party nominee for the pending Shillong parliamentary bye-election. The decision follows a Wednesday announcement by HSPDP president KP Pangniang.

Pangniang argued that regional groups must stick together on major state matters. He insisted that mutual respect is non-negotiable for these local forces. He noted, "Even national parties require the support of regional forces."

The HSPDP wants a strong front to meet the needs of the public. Leadership has decided not to issue a directive for the vote. Members and supporters now have the freedom to pick their own candidate for the seat.
