Guwahati: Muslim youths in Haflong launched a relief drive to help flood victims across Assam. They set up collection points at the Haflong Masjid immediately following prayers on August 1. Local residents and worshippers showed up in force. They opened their wallets to help families struggling in the wake of the disaster.
The organizers gathered funds to send directly to the hardest hit districts. They praised the public for their response during the emergency. "The relief collected through the drive would be sent to the flood-affected communities at the earliest," the organizers stated. This initiative serves as a push for continued humanitarian aid as the state works through the long process of rehabilitation for those who lost everything.
