Guwahati: Kunal Barthakur brought startup founders, investors, and innovators together in Guwahati on Saturday. The initiative aims to connect entrepreneurs with strategic capital. It focuses on building sustainable businesses in the Northeast. The meet began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and a tribute to musician Zubeen Garg.
Barthakur, an MBA graduate from the University of Chester and founder of the MVB Group, delivered the keynote. He pushed for businesses based on fibre reinforced polymer and advanced manufacturing. His team is currently rolling out plasma waste-to-energy systems and patent-pending solar water purification tools. He told the room, "The broader objective is to help aspiring entrepreneurs identify technology-driven business opportunities and build sustainable enterprises within the region."
The event drew a wide crowd of industry professionals and aspiring founders. Notable attendees included Alok Bora of the Export-Import Bank of India, Rinku Roy from IDFC Bank, and Dr. Prasanta Buragohain of NEPEDS. Founders from firms like Haaku Digital, FwthrAgri Solutions, and Renergy Solutions joined the discussion alongside representatives from the Nivrit Foundation and various NGOs. Organizers stressed the need to push entrepreneurship in schools and colleges.
Musical performances anchored the evening. Flutist AK played "Endhar Hobo Nuware" before a group performance by musicians including Farhan Kutub and Nabangshu Aryan. Three-year-old Aviraqj Barthakur sang "Maya Mathu Maya" to honor the late singer.
