Guwahati: The arrival of legendary rock band Guns N' Roses in Guwahati on November 17 serves as a strategic opportunity to promote Assam as a top travel destination. Kumar Padmapani Bora, managing director of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation, expects the performance to draw a significant number of fans from across India.
Bora believes hosting large-scale musical acts is an effective way to boost the regional economy and strengthen the state's profile. He pointed to the recent Post Malone concert in the city as evidence, noting that 53 per cent of those attendees traveled from outside Guwahati. According to the tourism official, these events create a ripple effect, encouraging concertgoers to explore local attractions like tea gardens, Kaziranga, and Nameri.
Officials are encouraging local residents to welcome incoming visitors with traditional hospitality to leave a positive impression. Bora emphasized the importance of the band's first appearance in the region, stating, "It is probably the first time Guns N' Roses is coming to perform in the North-East. It's a legendary event and we should take advantage of that."
By positioning the state as a hub for major entertainment, authorities hope to inspire long-term interest in the region's diverse offerings. Bora highlighted that the concert acts as a gateway for travelers to experience the unique culture and landscapes that make Assam a preferred destination.
