Guwahati: Domestic LPG consumers no longer need to wait 45 days for a refill. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi announced on Monday that the government has cut the mandatory booking gap to 25 days for all households. This rule change applies nationwide. It ends the split-system that forced rural families to wait significantly longer than urban residents.
The ministry originally set the 45-day wait for rural areas in March 2026. Urban customers faced a shorter 25-day limit at that time. Officials launched the staggered booking schedule as a temporary fix to manage supply pressures during international energy market instability caused by conflict in the Middle East. The policy kept stocks steady when global demand was erratic.
Supplies have stabilized. The Petroleum Ministry reviewed the current data and found that backlogs dropped sharply since they first put the measures in place. This shift signals a return to uniform service standards for the entire country. "Domestic LPG consumers can now book their next refill after a gap of 25 days," Gopi stated. The new 25-day interval takes effect immediately.
