Shillong: Meghalaya will soon end its reliance on out-of-state gas supplies. A new LPG bottling plant along the Shillong Bypass in Umiam should start operations by the end of October. Construction costs for the facility hit 75 crore rupees.
The state currently depends on bottling plants in Assam to meet domestic demand. Frequent supply bottlenecks have plagued residents for years. This new setup will fix that. Once running, the plant will push out 30,000 metric tonnes of LPG every year.
Officials expect the site to streamline the supply chain and guarantee reliable cooking gas distribution. The project marks a major shift for the state. Supply woes might finally end.
