Shillong: Domestic LPG users in West Jaintia Hills face a new reality. You must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication to keep receiving subsidized fuel prices. The mandate has been active since October 1, 2026, following orders from the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Meghalaya Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Shillong.
The clock is ticking. Officials issued the formal notice on October 5, 2026. If you fail to comply, your refills may get blocked until you finish the process. Connections reactivate only after you authenticate or choose to pay the market price instead. The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) demands swift action.
You have three ways to finish the check. Hand your data to the delivery person during a drop-off, visit your LPG distributor showroom, or use mobile apps like IndianOil ONE, HelloBPCL, or HP PAY. Those who already completed the requirement do not need to repeat it. If you prefer to bypass the biometric check entirely, you can declare your willingness to pay the market-determined rate for 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders. The administration stated, "The administration has asked consumers to cooperate with their distributors and finish the process promptly to avoid problems getting future refills."
Local distributors must spread the word. They are tasked with helping folks in rural and remote areas finish the signup. Get it done now to avoid supply gaps.
