Guwahati: Chaos erupted Thursday at the M/S Margherita Gas Agency in Assam’s Tinsukia district. An employee identified as Tarun tossed consumer handbooks onto the dirt and walked off the job. Customers stood waiting. The scene triggered immediate fury outside the retail outlet.
A mysterious handwritten sign dated September 30, 2026, hangs at the site. It reads: "No Godown Delivery Order — C.D.C. (Margherita)." Local residents report constant noise and near-war conditions. One neighbor stated: "We would definitely write to the Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia, over the commotion and war-like situation in front of the agency, greatly vitiating our peaceful atmosphere and disturbing our peace in our residential area over a period of time."
Accusations swirl regarding the godown. Allegations suggest it sits on land owned by Ram Mandir. Enforcement teams are cracking down hard. Officials seized over 20 domestic LPG cylinders from commercial shops in under a week. Scrutiny mounts over potential fuel diversion.
Audit issues plague the operation. A September 25 inspection uncovered a massive 282-cylinder discrepancy. Records claimed 397 deliveries, but the IOCL system showed only 115. The agency failed to file Electronic Reconciliation Verification for five loads, prompting the AOD Marketing Department to choke off further supply. Meanwhile, 310 customer bookings remain stuck in limbo. Reports now sit with the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner for review.
