Guwahati: Assam Congress president and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 23. He condemned the BJP-led Centre for avoiding accountability regarding the NEET paper leak controversy. Rather than addressing the crisis, officials consistently blame former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for current problems. It is a tired tactic.
Gogoi took to X to contrast the student movement with the government’s reaction. He noted the disparity in priorities while students face a broken system. "Students' demand: Resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Prime Minister Modi's response: Fast-track courts. Cause of the confusion: Pandit Nehru," Gogoi wrote.
Protests continue across the country. Students and opposition parties want Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down immediately. They cite widespread irregularities in the NEET examination process. Meanwhile, the BJP denies these claims. The party argues that the opposition is merely politicizing the issue for gain. The Centre promises a transparent investigation and strict action once the inquiry wraps up.
