Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi blasted the Centre on July 19 for dodging debates on national issues. The opposition wants answers. Gogoi spoke after a Business Advisory Committee meeting led by the Lok Sabha Speaker. He claimed the government is stalling to avoid accountability.
Gogoi noted the opposition promised to help pass government bills. He expects the Centre to match that cooperation by scheduling debates on the Ram Mandir, the NEET controversy, ethanol policy, the ongoing situation in Manipur, and farm sector struggles. "The Opposition has clearly stated that we will offer constructive participation and support for the government's bills. In return, we expect the government to demonstrate its moral responsibility and provide answers regarding critical public issues," Gogoi said.
The Congress leader accused officials of creating an atmosphere to silence dissent. He challenged ministers to name a date and time for these discussions. No official schedule exists yet. Gogoi wants the public to know exactly when and how the government plans to address these topics.
