Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi wants answers. He told reporters in Delhi on July 17 that his party plans to grill the Centre on the situation in Manipur, foreign policy, and the state of the education system during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. The opposition also intends to target the government over the automobile sector and the aftermath of Ayodhya.
Gogoi currently serves as the Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha. He suspects the ruling NDA will attempt to dodge these hot-button topics by stifling parliamentary debate. "We will raise all important issues which are foremost in the public's life. More important is: will the government answer and give its response on Ayodhya, education system, the automobile industry, foreign policy and Manipur?" Gogoi said.
The opposition expects a fight. Gogoi warned that the government might disrupt proceedings to avoid scrutiny. He stated that the Congress plans to consult with its INDIA bloc allies and other opposition parties before taking a unified stand on any incoming legislation. The party will reach a consensus before acting. Expect heated exchanges as both sides prepare for a session defined by deep political divisions.
