Agartala: Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee joined fellow parliamentarians in a protest on Thursday. The group gathered inside the Parliament premises to condemn a demonstration held by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his party workers outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home in New Delhi. Bhattacharjee branded the event a disgraceful and deliberate provocation.
He posted on social media that the Congress action insulted democratic values and constitutional dignity. "Political differences are natural, but such indecent and provocative behaviour in front of the Prime Minister’s residence is unacceptable," he wrote. Bhattacharjee argued the stunt aimed to undermine democratic norms.
The NDA stands ready to talk. MP and National President of a BJP allied organisation Nitin Nabin joined the pushback. Bhattacharjee claimed the ruling government remains prepared to address every topic in Parliament, specifically mentioning student concerns and the ongoing NEET examinations. He accused Rahul Gandhi of dodging debates to hide party hypocrisy.
The ruling alliance issued a challenge to the opposition. Bhattacharjee urged them to show courage and engage in open debate rather than fleeing from the floor. He stated, "If the opposition has courage, let them come to Parliament and engage in open debate. Running away from discussion only reveals their weakness." This clash highlights the tension during the current monsoon session as both sides trade blows over accountability.
