Guwahati: Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi lashed out on July 20 after police used batons on students. The demonstrators were demanding accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Gogoi took to social media to blast the response. He wants to know why Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps backing the embattled minister despite widespread outrage.
The protests stem from mounting anger over national education system failures. Students are fed up with examination paper leaks and a lack of transparency. Gogoi described the scene on the streets as a failure of leadership. "To see students being lathi-charged for demanding accountability from the Education Minister of India was gut-wrenching," he wrote on X. He directly challenged the Prime Minister to explain his unshakeable faith in Pradhan.
The BJP has not provided a response to the accusations yet. Tensions remain high across the country as students continue to press for reform. The protest movement shows no signs of slowing down.
