Agartala: The Tripura Police Crime Branch has arrested four officers accused of tampering with confiscated narcotics at the Teliamura Police Station in Khowai district. The group includes Inspector Ajit Debbarma, Sub-Inspector Rajendra Reang, Woman Sub-Inspector Sampa Das, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Sachindra Debbarma.

The incident traces back to the night of May 20, when local officers intercepted a vehicle carrying Eskuf cough syrup, which contains codeine. While the authorities began the seizure process, internal investigators discovered that a portion of the drugs disappeared before the official paperwork was finished. CCTV footage reportedly showed the accused removing approximately 245 bottles of the syrup from the station evidence room.

Following these revelations, Tripura Director General of Police Anurag ordered a formal case to be filed. Inspector Jayanta Kumar Dey is leading the investigation into the matter. All four suspects have been placed under suspension and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face charges regarding the mishandling of evidence.
