Five Arrested After Violent Attack at Sikkim Crusher Plant Site

Gangtok: Villagers in Kholatar Moonew are demanding justice after a brutal daylight assault. Tensions boiled over due to a controversial hotmix crusher plant in the Soreng district. Residents blamed the facility for foul air and demanded action for months.

The Sikkim Pollution Control Board shuttered the plant back in March. Villagers claim the owner, Aas Bir Subba, turned to violence after the closure order. The dispute turned physical when Chandra Hang Subba faced a targeted attack. The incident triggered a massive public outcry across the Daramdin constituency.

Police have moved in. Officers arrested five suspects connected to the brawl, including contractor KB Gurung and Aas Bir Subba. Locals view Subba as the man pulling the strings. Despite the recent arrests, one attacker is still on the run.

The victims are pushing for a full investigation. They told reporters during a press conference that they want the law to hold every participant accountable. One victim stated, "one accused person remains absconding." The community now waits to see if police will track down the final suspect.
