Food Supplier Arrested After CIT Kokrajhar Mass Poisoning

Guwahati: Police arrested the food supplier for the Gambari Sikhla Girls Hostel at the Central Institute of Technology in Kokrajhar. More than 50 students fell ill after eating hostel food on September 26. The sick students went to hospitals for treatment. Tensions boiled over on campus. Students protested, demanding accountability for poor food quality.

District Commissioner Pankaj Chakraborty filed the case at the Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station on Thursday. This arrest marks a sharp turn in the investigation. BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary slammed the school administration. He claimed the Registrar and Director failed to provide a safe environment. Mohilary said, "The situation at the institution was deteriorating and called for a thorough investigation into the incident." Authorities are now digging into the cause of the illness.
