Aizawl: Election Commission of India Secretary Binod Kumar and Director Shubhra Saxena concluded a two-day visit to Mizoram this week to evaluate the progress of the state's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The review meeting, held at the Planning and Programme Implementation Department Conference Hall in Aizawl, brought together district election officers and field staff to discuss strategies for an accurate and timely update process.

During the session, Shubhra Saxena highlighted the legal weight of the initiative. She stated, "The revision of electoral rolls is a sensitive and important task that requires strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution of India and the Representation of the People Act, 1950." Saxena further instructed local officials to monitor for illegal migration and fraudulent registrations, noting the unique challenges posed by Mizoram's long, porous international border.

Mizoram Chief Electoral Officer Garima Gupta also addressed the participants, calling for better coordination across all levels of the election administration. She directed officials to provide consistent support to Booth Level Officers and maintain active engagement at the field level to ensure the process remains efficient. The meeting included participation from Aizawl District Election Officer Er. Lalhriatpuia, along with various electoral registration and booth-level officers tasked with executing the revision.
