Election Commission Holds National Conference on Strategic Media Communication

Kohima: The Election Commission of India hosted a national conference for media and communication officers on June 12 at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in Delhi. The event brought together more than 350 officials, including Media Nodal Officers and Social Media Nodal Officers, representing all 36 states and union territories. A delegation of 12 officials from Nagaland attended the conference, led by deputy CEO Alila Chang.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, addressed the attendees. The leadership team focused on the necessity of accurate and prompt public information. The Chief Election Commissioner emphasised the importance of timely, clear and fact based communication, while the Election Commissioners discussed strategies for effectively sharing election rules and commission initiatives.

Throughout the day, participants explored various aspects of the electoral cycle, including media engagement tactics, social media outreach, and methods for addressing misinformation. The program also highlighted voter awareness campaigns and recent legal updates. The conference featured a segment for sharing best practices from recent state elections and concluded with an interactive question and answer session led by the Chief Election Commissioner.
