Shillong: East Jaintia Hills Police start a massive traffic enforcement operation on October 10. Drivers must follow the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and all federal rules. Owners must swap illegal plates for RTO-approved High Security Registration Plates. Fancy or modified plates are banned.
Police are targeting loud exhausts, pressure horns, and modified silencers to cut down on noise pollution. They also warned against unauthorized structural changes to goods vehicles. This includes altering dimensions or using oversized tires and wheels. Officials prohibited tinted windows and illegal high-intensity lights.
Drivers must carry a valid license, Registration Certificate, insurance, fitness papers, and a current Pollution Under Control certificate. Driving while intoxicated remains a top priority. "Strict action will be taken against persons if found driving in a dangerous and negligent manner and violating other traffic regulations," the advisory stated.
Officers will issue fines and seize vehicles for non-compliance. Authorities may also suspend or cancel driving licenses and registrations. Keep your paperwork ready for inspection.
