Shillong: NPP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh shut down talk of a government collapse on Friday. She remains confident that state leadership is fully in control. The East Shillong MLA labeled rumors of instability as fiction. She warned against treating the recent political churn like a show.
"There is too much fiction in this entire script," Lyngdoh said. Eight of the 12 UDP legislators defected to the BJP two days ago. This shift moves the BJP to second place in the Assembly. The NPP maintains 33 seats while the UDP is left with four members.
Lyngdoh confirmed that Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar are currently running the state. She insisted the administration will hold its mandate through 2028. The legislator refused to speculate on the motives behind the recent party switch. She has not spoken to the defectors and stated their political choices are their own business.
The NPP leader also took aim at reports of local politicians taking secret flights to Delhi. She denied traveling anywhere herself. She urged the public to stop the theatrical speculation so the government can keep working. Governance is a serious matter for the administration.
